How to reach Siena
Siena does not have an airport. Florence (Amerigo Vespucci) and Pisa (Leonardo da Vinci) are the closest airports to Siena. Other nearby airports that can also be used are in Bologna or Rome.
FROM FLORENCE AIRPORT TO SIENA:
1. from the airport to the Florence Railway Station you can take the tramway (approximately 20 minutes) Stop in “Alamanni Stazione – Santa Maria Novella”
2. To reach Siena you can take the train or the bus:
• TRAIN FLORENCE – SIENA (direct train) You can buy tickets in the Railway Station or online https://www.trenitalia.com/en.html there is approximately 1 train per hour
• BUS FLORENCE – SIENA The bus station is in front of railway one (Via Alamanni). You can buy the ticket there or online https://www.at-bus.it/en The bus is 131 R. There is approximately 1 per hour.

FROM PISA AIRPORT TO SIENA:
1. from the airport to the Pisa Railway Station you can take the train PISA MOVER (approximately 10 minutes)
2. To reach Siena you can take 2 trains: PISA-EMPOLI + EMPOLI-SIENA * be careful! there are less trains during the night https://www.trenitalia.com/en.html
FROM ROMA FIUMICINO AIRPORT TO SIENA:
• There is a bus that takes you directly from Fiumicino airport to Siena.Unfortunately there are not many trips. https://www.flixbus.it/
1. From the airport to Roma Station you can take the train. Leonardo Express. Trains run every 15 minutes and operate from 05.38 a.m. to 23.53 More info: https://www.trenitalia.com/it/treni_regionali/lazio/leonardo_express.html
2. To reach Siena you can take the train with different option:
Roma- Chiusi + Chiusi – Siena
Roma- Firenze + Firenze – Siena
FROM BOLOGNA AIRPORT TO SIENA:
1. from the airport to Bologna Railway Station you can take the train “Marconi Express”. Trains run every 7 minutes and operate from 5:40 a.m. to midnight, 365 days a year. More info: https://www.marconiexpress.it/

GRAND HOTEL CONTINENTAL, 5*: very central location, inside the ZTL (restricted traffic zone, not accessible without a permit), a few steps from Piazza del Campo. 4 CITY CENTER* HOTEL NH SIENA, 4*: central location, but just outside the ZTL (therefore accessible by car) and located in front of the main stop for intercity buses (e.g., buses from Florence stop here). There are several paid parking lots next to the hotel (some of these are free at night). We could try to obtain discounted rates in these parking lots, as we recently did for another conference. 4 OUTSIDE THE CENTER* HOTEL GARDEN, 4*: outside the city center (requires taxi/car/public transport to reach Santa Maria della Scala). 4 OUTSIDE THE CITY, IN THE COUNTRYSIDE* HOTEL PRECISE 4*: about 12 km from the center of Siena, in the direction of the Crete Senesi (southeast). Recently opened hotel with modern design, but in a typical Tuscan rural setting. Equipped with a restaurant, meeting room, as well as a SPA and heated pool (usable even in autumn and winter). Own (or rental) car is needed to reach the city and the conference as there is no public transport service compatible with the conference schedule.
